The Map Control Panel on the Device Map offers three sections with tools to help the user view the map, view GPS history, create Geofences (zones), and more.
NOTE: The Device Map differs from the Device Group Map. The Device Map focuses on one specific device, while the Device Group Map focuses on groups of devices. To switch between devices on the Device Map, select the device from the box at the top right of the screen (shown below).
Live Tracking
The Live Tracking tab of the Map Control Panel provides options for how the map is displayed as well as the amount of GPS history to view.
To select a range of GPS history select an option, "Show last", "Show date range", or "Do not show GPS history". Then, enter the number or dates required and click "Update".
GPS History:
Show Last: Allows the user to choose up to 7 days of GPS history. Choose "Hours" or "Days" from the selection box, then enter the number of hours or days to display on the map.
Show Date Range: The date range option allows the user to select a specific date range (up to 7 days) to view on the map.
Do Not Show GPS History: To view only the most recent location on the map.
Live Update: The Live Update checkbox toggles the automatic update feature. This feature, when enabled, will automatically load new locations and display them on the map without requiring a page refresh.
Optional Map Settings:
The map settings checkboxes allow the user to customize the view of the Device Map.
Auto Center: The Auto Center option, when enabled, will automatically center the last location of the device on the map. For example, when live tracking a moving asset, as the device travels, the map will continuously center itself on the last locate.
Satellite View: The Satellite View option will toggle the Satellite view on the map (this is also available as a button on the top-left corner of the map.
Path: The Path option allows the user to toggle the path between location points on or off.
Points: The Points option allows the user to toggle the location points on or off.
Traffic: The Traffic option, when enabled, will show Google Traffic data on the map. Colored lines will appear over roads, highways, freeways, and interstates. The colors and icons are described below:
- Green: No traffic delays.
- Orange: Medium amount of traffic.
- Red: Traffic delays. The darker the red, the slower the speed of traffic on the road.
Traffic incident symbols:
- Crashes
- Construction
- Road closures
- Other incidents
Geofences: This option allows the use to toggle the display of Geofences on the map.
Zoom to Device: Click this button to zoom in to the device on the map.
Zoom All Points: Click this button to zoom to all locations on the map
Animate History:
The Animate History section offers a the ability to playback the GPS history currently shown on the map. This feature works much like any other video player. Button descriptions are shown below:
